SCULPTURES IN THE GARDEN 2014
One of the largest sculpture exhibitions in rural NSW, Sculptures in the Garden 2014 has issued an open call for submissions from artists.
Held over Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 October 2014, the not for profit outdoor exhibition features local, regional and interstate artists.
Event organizer, Amber Norton-Knight, says Sculptures in the Garden 2014 provides artists with an exquisite avenue to exhibit their works.
“Sculptures in the Garden 2014 is set in beautiful rural surroundings within a private garden and vineyard in Mudgee, NSW,” Amber said.
“We anticipate more than 2,000 visitors will attend the exhibition over the weekend, providing huge exposure for the artists
“It’s also very likely that they will sell their work. Last year, Sculptures in the Garden displayed over 150 sculptures and more than 60% were sold.”
All proceeds from the weekend exhibition go to the Mudgee Support Group of Guide Dogs NSW/ACT and a local arts initiative to develop a sculpture walk in Mudgee’s Lawson Park.
“Last year, we raised more than $19,000 for the Mudgee Support Group for Guide Dogs NSW/ACT, which was a huge achievement.
“This year, Sculptures in the Garden, with funding assistance from Mid-Western Regional Council, will purchase sculptures from the exhibition up to the value of $11,000, to add to the local sculpture walk,” Amber said.
Other honours will be bestowed upon artists in the form of a People’s Choice Award and $5,000 Moolarben Acquisition Prize.
There is no entry fee for artists to exhibit at the event. The submissions deadline is Friday 12th September 2014. Entry forms can be downloaded from the Sculptures in the Garden website; www.sculpturesinthegarden.com.au.
