In 2017 the children's section of Sculptures in the Garden has already generated lots of interest among the local schools who are all eager to participate again. The Pre Schools and Childcare Centres have already begun to collect things from home to make wonderful works of art to display for everyone's pleasure.

THEME: "Water Water Everywhere ... " In rivers, seas and dams. Ideas can come from anywhere! Now get busy with your hands!

ENTRY CATEGORIES: Entry categories are based on the appropriate school age group;
• Pre-School
• Infants
• Primary
• Secondary
All entries will be exhibited in a designated area, and must be weather proof, wind proof and secured.


Submission deadline: Friday 22nd September 2017

Installation: 5th and 6th October 2017

Exhibition opens: 9am Saturday 7th October 2017

Exhibition closes: 4pm Sunday 8th October 2017

Removal of works commences: From 4pm Sunday 8th October & Monday 9th October



8yrs - 12 yrs: Monday 25th & Tuesday 26th September 10am - 3pm

13yrs +: Thursday 28th & Friday 29th September 10am - 3pm

In this 2-day workshop you will learn skills and techniques that will allow participants to design and construct sculpture of an animal or any desired figure using a board silhouette, a covering of wire netting and traditional paper mache. There are two levels of workshop offered for two different age groups, 8-12 years and 13 + years. The younger group will have more assistance with the initial silhouette production and artwork. On completion of construction participants can paint and decorate the sculpture as desired. The final works will become part of the central sculptural displayin the kids exhibition over the SIG weekend. Cost: $70/student for 2-days. spaces are limited. MORE INFORMATION & BOOK ONLINE HERE


Sculptures in the Garden for kids! will also have a part to play in the local Green Day environmental awareness day in September attended by all school children of the district who are in Years 5 and 6. The 2017 Green Day theme is "GoMAD or Go Make a Difference"  so SIG Kids Committee will conduct a session where each child will contribute to building two life size horse sculptures out of sticks. These will then become part of the central sculptural display over the SIG weekend.
