We invite artists to an open call for submissions to one of the largest sculpture exhibitions in rural NSW – Sculptures in the Garden 2017.

Held over two days, Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th October 2017, this not for profit outdoor exhibition gives local, regional and interstate artists an avenue to exhibit their works in beautiful rural surroundings within a private garden and vineyard in Mudgee NSW.

Let your imaginations run wild and create a sculpture that can be enjoyed without the sense of sight.  Think outside the square – your sculpture could be touched, heard or even smelt.  Our sensory pieces will be distributed throughout the garden with appropriate signage.  A $300 prize for the best Sensory sculpture has kindly be donated by the Sculpture Society.  We are hoping that this will be an ongoing part of Sculptures in the Garden in future years, perhaps with a section of the garden totally devoted to the Senses.

  • $15,000 Sculptures in the Garden and Mid-Western Regional Council Acquisition. From money raised from Sculptures in the Garden 2016, SIG and MWRC will be purchasing a sculpture or sculptures from the 2017 exhibition up to the value of $15,000. The acquired work/s will be part of the Mid Western Regional Council public art collection

  • $5,000 Moolarben Acquisition Prize. The winning acquisition will be part of the Mid-Western Regional Council’s public art collection.

  • $8,500 Friends of Sculptures in the Garden Acquisition. The winning acquisition will be part of the Mid-Western Regional Council’s public art collection. ** this prize is likely to increase as donations are received in the lead up to the event

  • $300 Sculptors Society Sensory Sculpture Non Acquisition Prize.

  • $500 People's Choice Award

  • An estimated 3,000 visitors are anticipated to visit the exhibition over the two days.

  • At the 2016 event, we displayed over 230 sculptures and sold 50% of the artworks.

  • Proceeds from the weekend exhibition go to a local arts initiative to develop a sculpture walk in Mudgee’s Lawson Park

  • At the 2016 event, over $18,000 was raised by the Mudgee Support Group for Guide Dogs NSW/ACT
